They were almost certainly of Asian origin.

Is anything certain?.. only one thing... you don't know who you are speaking to or where they are. Being "dealers" in investments they don't want ANYONE to know how to trace them otherwise they might get caught by the police or traced by people with other intent!

footnote: I would suggest people get voice records (including answerphone voices) of any telephone conversations with support staff. Hopefully the quality will be good enough that a voice print can be made.
It might seem extreme, but it might EVENTUALLY get a result when submitted (with other records of accounts, web details and transactions) to internet fraud authorities.
